Two men have been charged with multiple felonies and misdemeanors stemming from a shots fired incident on June 13, 2018 in Naperville.

On Wednesday, June 13, at approximately 3:41PM, the Naperville Police Department received a call of a fight in progress in the 500 block of Fessler Avenue. Upon arrival, officers were informed by dispatchers that shots had been fired and a person was injured. Officers located the victim, who had sustained a minor graze wound to the arm. The victim was treated by the Naperville Fire Department and released at the scene.

An extensive two-day investigation led to the following charges being filed in this incident.

Trinny R. Thomas, 36, of the 7000 block of Woodworth Avenue in Woodridge is charged with the following:

  • Aggravated Battery with a Firearm (Class X Felony)
  • Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm (Class 1 Felony)
  • Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon (Class 3 Felony)
  • Aggravated Unlawful use of a Weapon (Class 4 Felony)

Christopher C. Partin, 31, of the 1600 block of Country Lakes Drive in Naperville is charged with the following:

  • Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon (Class 3 Felony)
  • Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon (Class 4 Felony)
  • Reckless Discharge of a Firearm (Class 4 Felony)
  • Obstructing (Class A Misdemeanor)
  • Resisting Arrest (Class A Misdemeanor)
  • Assault (Class C Misdemeanor)

“Our officers and investigators did an outstanding job piecing together the events of this case and gathering all of the evidence necessary to secure these charges,” said Deputy Chief Jason Arres. “I would like to thank those in the community who came forward and assisted us in this investigation and the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office for working closely with us to ensure proper charges were filed.”

“The allegations against these two defendants are outrageous and will be met with the full force and effect of the law,” said DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin. “Thankfully, no innocent bystanders were injured due to the alleged actions of Mr. Thomas and Mr. Partin. I would like to thank the Naperville Police Department for the truly outstanding work performed by the officers. Additionally, I would thank Assistant State’s Attorneys Matt Dambach and Tim Diamond for their efforts on this case, which will allow us to bring a strong prosecution against these men.”

The Naperville Police wish to remind the public and the news media that a charge is merely an accusation, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
