‘Pawfect’ Treats

-

Turning Pointe is positively wild about dogs. We rely on service dogs every week to provide a unique type of therapeutic benefit to students. A loving warm and furry soul to bring comfort and calm at the end of each week.

Last year, Turning Pointe even adopted a canine mascot named OTIS to honor our Founding Family’s beloved service dog. Our version of the black Labrador was drawn by a young artist on the autism spectrum and OTIS provides the community a way to support our school by rallying behind a mascot. With OTIS wear – shirts and hats – neighbors can share Turning Pointe’s story with their circle and proceeds support our programs.

Now this month we are launching yet another way to celebrate our love of dogs! Turning Pointe has a new enterprise offering vocational training for individuals with autism. Turning Pointe is partnering with Uniquely Pawfect, a dog biscuit company started by another talented young man with autism. He and his family leveraged his gift with animals and his charismatic personality into a quality dog treat business. Uniquely Pawfect exemplifies the good work that can be achieved when we recognize the abilities of individuals on the autism spectrum. Turning Pointe is honored to be a part of expanding this special business. Turning Pointe students help package and sell these all natural treats at local specialty and pet shops as well as in our Made to Inspire Boutique.

A vital partner in this new enterprise is the Happy Dog Barkery. This woman-owned business in Downers Grove bakes the all-natural treats on site. Happy Dog Barkery has a reputation of quality treats dogs enjoy. With Happy Dog Barkery’s expertise and support, the new partnership is poised for success!

If you have a dog or know someone with a dog, Uniquely Pawfect will be a great way to spoil them this summer! Not only will your pooch love them, you can love knowing that by purchasing our treats you are supporting students at Turning Pointe. A win-win. Woof!
