Police arrest juvenile suspect for felony disorderly conduct

-

On Wednesday, May 9, Naperville Police Investigators took a juvenile into custody on charges of disorderly conduct and unlawful possession of a weapon. The charges stem from an incident in which several knives, including an illegal switchblade knife, were found in the student’s locker at Neuqua Valley High School on May 3, 2018.

The Will County States Attorney’s Office approved the charge of Disorderly Conduct, a Class 4 Felony, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon (possession of a switchblade knife), a Class A Misdemeanor.

“As evidenced by these charges, any actions that threaten the safety of our school communities will be taken very seriously by this department,” said Police Chief Robert Marshall. “This type of behavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. We will continue to pursue any such case to the fullest extent of the law.”

The suspect is being processed through the juvenile court system and, as such, no additional information about the subject or the case can be released by the Naperville Police Department.

The Naperville Police Department encourages anyone with any information about weapons on school campuses or threats to an individual or school community to contact police immediately by dialing 9-1-1.

The Naperville Police wish to remind the public and the news media that a charge is merely an accusation, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
