Fire Prevention 24-7 – CPR and First Aid for your pets

-

Whether you own a pet or care for other people’s animals, it’s important to know what to do if an emergency arises.

Plus, if you’re a groomer, pet sitter, kennel owner or dog walker, investing in the proper training will make you better at your job, look good on your resume and help you get new clients.

Accidents and injuries happen. It’s part of life. But by knowing what to do (and what NOT to do) in a pet emergency when minutes count, offers greater peace of mind to pet parents.

The Naperville Fire Department is proud to announce that we will be offering Pet CPR and First Aid and would like you to join us for a 5+ hour class that includes CPR techniques, first aid skills, health care and wellness information for dogs and cats.

Topics not included are dental care and senior care. Additionally, the class includes our PetSaver™ 40-page handbook and upon successful completion, each participant will receive a certificate and wallet card. Sometimes the unexpected happens…Will you be prepared to take action when it does?

Class will take place at 9AM on Sat., March 17 at Naperville Safety Town, 1320 Aurora Avenue. The price is $75. To enroll, visit naperville.enrollware.com/schedule and scroll to the bottom.

Additionally, we are currently looking for residents to take part in our 2018 Citizen Fire Academy. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a firefighter? How cool it would be to use the ‘Jaws of Life’ and cut up a car? How about going into a burning building and rescuing a victim? Does climbing up a 100+ foot aerial ladder sound intriguing? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then the 2018 Citizen Fire Academy wants you!

The first class will meet from 6PM to 9PM on Monday, April 2. The academy meets every Monday night and will conclude on Monday, May 21.

Individuals who would like to participate in the Academy must be at least 18 years of age and either live or work in Naperville. Those wishing to apply, or just seeking more information about the Citizen Fire Academy should contact me at soraya.mclaughlin@naperville.il.us.

Everyone who has taken this class leaves saying it was the BEST thing they ever did. Come join us!
