On Wednesday, February 14, members of the Naperville Police Department Financial Crimes unit, with the assistance of the United States Secret Service and the Lisle Police Department, executed a search warrant in the 0-100 block of Olesen Drive in Naperville. The search warrant was obtained after several months of investigation into numerous incidents of credit card fraud, identity theft and forgery that had been reported to police.
As a result of the investigation, Brenton C. Thurman II, 27, of the 0-100 block of Olesen Drive, Naperville, was charged with the following:
- 1 count Forgery (class 3 felony)
- 2 counts Identity Theft (each a class 4 felony)
- 1 count Possession of an Altered Credit Card (class 4 felony)
Thurman was transported to the DuPage County Jail.
The Naperville Police wish to remind the public and the news media that a charge is merely an accusation, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
