“When you walk into our restaurants and see the oranges being fresh squeezed, you know you’re going to get the freshest ingredients, an innovative menu and great service. We’re making a statement with those oranges.”

– Nick Kouimelis,
President Butterfield’s Restaurants

Nick Kouimelis and his colleagues did their homework. When a restaurant industry survey reported diners return to a breakfast restaurant many times a month, they knew they’d found their focus. After success in Chicago, they expanded to Wheaton, Naperville, Northbrook and Oak Brook Terrace. Customers know they will find an extensive menu of breakfast and lunch offerings, including a range of cuisines, healthy selections and service that will brighten the day no matter what time you dine.

Kouimelis says location and relationships are what build business. “I’m happy to be a medium fish in a medium pond,” he says.

The restaurants donate countless gift certificates to local charities and welcome scouts to sell outside their doors. And when it comes to support, he reports his relationship with a community bank is critical.

“Banks are good to you when you don’t need money,” he says. “When you need money, you need a bank that really cares about your success. We’ve got that with Wintrust and Naperville Bank & Trust.”

PN Ombudsman
An ombudsman is Scandinavian in origin dating back to Viking times; and refers to a community representative; usually acting independently on behalf of an organization, body of elected officials, or civic group. Thanks Scandinavia for inventing ombudsman.
