Journey with Autism – Resolve to help make life better for others

-

This time of year is ideal to make following lists and promises geared towards improving our physical, emotional and professional selves. Slamming the door on our poor eating and vowing to work out starts January first.

If you have about 365 days to let yourself make your good intentions a reality, the probability of doing what is planned is pretty high. Yet, most resolutions are that fond memory, lost and nearly forgotten.

What is the reason every year so many of us try and fail?  I’m no expert in human behavior, but maybe it‘s not our fault. What is my suggestion is that rather than we focus on our own wellness, we vow to make life better for others.

How about have a person with a disability over to visit. Resolve to volunteer more, think of the people you know who need a little more attention and open your heart to them. What if we planned to take one senior citizen to lunch or delivered a meal?

The divisions that our world experiences would be far less if we resolve to have one quiet conversation with a person we disagree with or give a little more than angry tweets at those people who frustrate our opinions. Maybe by actually doing for others, we might be ultimately changed for the better.
