Equal fun for everyone – Keeping that New Year’s Resolution

-

Did you make a New Year’s resolution? Did you know that by the third week of January only eight percent of people actually keep their New Year’s resolutions. If your resolution was to more actively help others or to make a difference in your community, I want to help you be a part of that successful eight percent.

Let me suggest volunteering with Western DuPage Special Recreation Association (WDSRA). Volunteering with WDSRA is Fun. Exciting. Significant.

As a volunteer you get to be a part of programs that are a whole lot of FUN. You could be helping make cookies on a Thursday, playing board games on a Friday, or serving beverages at a dance on a Saturday.

You might also find yourself coaching a sports team, helping a little one learn to ice skate or heading to a Blackhawks game with a group of adults. With a wide range of program interests, you are sure to find one you like. To make sure it is a good experience for you and our participants, we work closely with you to find the best fit.

Whether volunteering for an hour, a day or a season, you can select how you want to be involved. With Naperville being the largest community we serve, many of our programs meet at Naperville Park District facilities making it close to home. The fact that you can choose how often you volunteer, the capacity in which you volunteer and where makes volunteering EXCITING.

What makes your volunteering SIGNIFICANT is that you are creating an environment whereby children, teens and adults with special needs can enjoy successful social and recreational experiences.

You are giving them the opportunity to engage with you and connect to the community around them.  You will make a difference in their lives and they certainly will make a difference in yours!

So whether you can spare an hour a week or several hours a week, volunteering with WDSRA can help you keep your New Year’s resolution and be a part of that successful eight percent.
