Equal Fun for Everyone – Making holidays bright

-

I love this time of year so much I am almost giddy! Thanksgiving is just around the corner. It’s about family, friends and reflecting on what’s important in life. It makes me think about all the things for which I am grateful. Soon after that lights will be twinkling, bells will be jingling and carols will be in the air. Yep… this is the start of the most magical time of the year!

If you embrace the season as much as I do, you are probably already thinking about how you can make the holidays a little brighter for both your family and for others. Here are a couple of ways to do just that.

First, start the holiday season with a family visit to the big guy at one of the Naperville Park District’s Santa House Special Needs Nights. On these evenings, families with an individual with special needs can enjoy a visit that is a little longer, quieter and more relaxed. The whole family can visit at the same time and even take pictures. Should you want to arrive a little early, you’ll be welcomed with snacks, activities and crafts compliments of WDSRA. This is the perfect way for your child or children to share their wish list(s) with Santa!

Details: Santa House Special Needs Nights are held from 5-8PM December 4-6, and December 14, at the Naperville Riverwalk, Jackson Ave. and Webster St. Dates and times fill up fast. Reservations are required and can be made at www.napervilleparks.org/santahouse.

Second, why not celebrate the season with a donation to WDSRA? With your donation, you can be assured that you are helping friends and neighbors in your community. You will be making social and recreational programs available to every child and adult who depends on them as a fundamental part of their growth and development.

If you choose to make your donation online on Giving Tuesday, November 28, your donation qualifies to be matched. The Coleman Foundation is generously matching donations made online at www.wdsra.com on Novmeber 28 (up to $10,000). For every donation between $25-$99, The Coleman Foundation will donate $25. For every donation $100 or greater, The Coleman Foundation will donate $100.

Remember, to qualify for the match donations need to be made at www.wdsra.com on Giving Tuesday, November 28 only. Of course, donations can always be made to WDSRA through December 31.

The best part of the holidays… making life a little brighter for everyone!
