Temperatures are dropping

-

Above / Located at 1108 E. Ogden Ave., Naperville’s original pet store established in 1972, is a new type of pet store that matches rescues with forever homes.

Can you believe that summer is over and we’re already in the month of October? The temperature has started to drop and we’re all in the middle of our fall routine. Jackets and sweaters will be out and in use soon. The birds are flocking and eating seeds like crazy. And, yes, we have a big variety of bird seed here at Dog Patch.

We are adopting out dogs and cats at an unusually fast pace. It’s very rewarding to see these animals pulled from death row find loving homes. It makes the struggle so worth it.

We are still looking for folks to walk our dogs. Stop in and fill out our short application. There are never enough people to get all of our dogs on walks that are so important to these animals.

Coats, sweaters and other cool and cold weather gear will be on our shelves soon. This is my favorite time of year. Nothing like hanging out with your dogs on a crisp fall day.

Open House will focus on East Ogden Corridor where Dog Patch is located

Ray Kinney recently told me about an informal open house being planned at Iroquois Center from 9AM to 7PM on Tues., Oct. 10, and to be sure to attend and add comments to the process.

The 10-hour open house is designed to present ideas on public/private partnerships to enhance and improve streetscapes along Ogden with some “rebranding” ideas for that part of the city—our part of the city. They want folks to drop in and share ideas for this Ogden Corridor by stopping in any time during the day.  It’s being hosted by the City, Naperville Development Partnership and the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce.

Help spread the word. The day-long event makes it convenient for just about all interested individuals to attend at some point.

That news reminds me to encourage you to stop in Dog Patch, too! We are in the midst of yet another road construction project. We need your support now more than ever!
