Naperville, IL (Oct. 4, 2017) – Loaves & Fishes celebrated a $38,000 grant from the Walmart Foundation at a check presentation ceremony yesterday. The grant supports Loaves & Fishes’ Community Health Program, which provides access to healthy food for all families who are at risk of food insecurity.

“Loaves & Fishes is thrilled to partner with the Walmart Foundation to end hunger and transform lives,” said Mike Havala, Loaves & Fishes President and CEO. “This support strengthens our community and has incredible impact in the lives of our clients.”

Serving the community since 1984, Loaves & Fishes provides food and leadership in the community by uniting and mobilizing resources to empower people to be self-sufficient. The organization’s vision is to end hunger in the community.

The grant was presented to Havala by Naperville Store Manager Greg Szarzynski during a weekly staff meeting at Loaves & Fishes.

“The Walmart Foundation is dedicated to giving people access to a better life. Organizations like Loaves & Fishes are instrumental in making that happen,” said Szarzynski. “We know that hunger is a reality for many families and, through this grant, we hope to help eliminate the barriers that make it difficult to get enough healthy food to thrive.”
