City announces road closures, parking, shuttle service and accessibility plans for Last Fling & Labor Day

NAPERVILLE, Ill. — The City of Naperville reminds residents of the upcoming street closures, parking restrictions, shuttle locations and accessibility plans that will be in effect throughout Last Fling, taking place Friday, September 1 through Monday, September 4.

Sponsored by the Naperville Jaycees, the Last Fling includes a carnival with food vendors, triathlon, 5K and one-mile run, business expo, Labor Day Parade and more. Some road closures begin August 30

Beginning Wednesday, August 30 there will be several road closures and no parking zones in effect for the duration of the event as well as additional closures and restrictions on Monday, September 4 to accommodate the Labor Day Parade, NCAA Women’s Triathlon, Rooster 5k and Fling Mile. The details regarding dates, times and locations of these closures and parking restrictions can be found on color-coded maps at www.naperville.il.us/lastfling.

Remote Parking & Shuttle Locations

Free public shuttles serving Last Fling will run to and from three remote parking locations near the downtown Naperville area, located at:

  • Burlington commuter parking lot, southeast corner of 5th Avenue and Washington Street
  • North Central College, corner of Brainard Street and Highland Avenue
  • All Saints Catholic Academy, 1155 Aurora Ave.

Shuttles will run approximately every 30 minutes. Pick-ups and drop-offs take place on-site at the corner of Eagle Street and Aurora Avenue. Accessible Parking

Accessible parking for the event on-site will be available at Naper Settlement after 6PM September 1, 2 and 3 and all-day September 4; the Rotary Hill parking lot located on Aurora Avenue; and in the lower level of the Naperville Municipal Center, located at 400 S. Eagle St. Please note that for the duration of the event, the entrance to the Municipal Center parking lot will be off of Webster Street.

Off-site accessible parking is also available with accessible shuttle bus service approximately every 30 minutes, located at:

  • Burlington commuter parking lot, southeast corner of 5th Avenue and Washington Street
  • North Central College, corner of Brainard Street and Highland Avenue
  • All Saints Catholic Academy, 1155 Aurora Ave.

Accessible parking is available in all of the parking lots and parking decks located throughout downtown Naperville as well as on some of the streets. A color-coded accessible parking map is available to view at www.naperville.il.us/lastfling.

Labor Day Parade, NCAA Women’s Invitational Triathlon, Rooster 5K & Fling Mile

During the Last Fling Parade, bucket shakers will collect funds for victims of Hurricane Harvey & more.

The 2017 Labor Day Parade will take place at 10AM on Monday, September 4 in downtown Naperville. For the second year, North Central College will host a NCAA Women’s Invitational Triathlon. The event will begin at Centennial Beach at 6:45 a.m., include a bike portion and end with a 5K run along the parade route. The Fling Mile will take place starting at 8:45AM near the corner of Douglas and Mill Street and end at Porter Avenue near Naperville Central high school. The Rooster 5K will take place starting at 9 a.m. along the parade route. For a map of these routes, visit www.naperville.il.us/lastfling.
