(Naperville, IL – August 1, 2017) Loaves & Fishes Community Services announces the appointments of Dr. Laura Bokar of the Fox Valley Institute and Susan Haines of General Mills to their board of directors.
“Dr. Laura Bokar and Sue Haines are welcome additions to our board,” said Mike Havala, President and CEO of Loaves & Fishes. “Each will bring their unique perspective and knowledge which will enhance our organization, and assist in the advancement of our strategic plan. I appreciate their deep commitment to our mission.”

Dr. Laura Bokar, CEO of Fox Valley Institute in Naperville says she is honored to use her passion and experience in this capacity to encourage people to grow in their lives and relationships. Her accomplishments include receiving The Business Ledger Influential Women in Business Award, serving as a member of the Board of Directors for the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce (NACC), and she was recently elected to the Board of Directors of the Illinois Association of Marriage and Family Therapy.
“Over the years, it has been rewarding to work with Loaves and Fishes as they have expanded their community initiatives and services,” stated Dr. Bokar. “It is a fulfilling opportunity to transition into this new role and continuing to partner in sharing their mission of empowering people to be self-sufficient.”
Sue Haines
Sue Haines, a financial consultant for General Mills, is a current volunteer at Loaves & Fishes working with the financial emergency assistance, car donation and Moving Up programs. She has been a volunteer with Bridge Communities for more than five years and has successfully mentored two families to financial independence. Sue volunteered for ten years with St. Vincent de Paul and was a board member with Naperville CARES.
“I am looking forward to joining the Loaves & Fishes board because I support the efforts to reduce food insecurity and provide resources toward self-sufficiency,” said Sue Haines. “I want to continue my volunteer work at the Board level supporting the Loaves & Fishes mission and serving those in need.”
