Under the leadership of Assistant Conductor René Rosas with entertaining narration by Ann Lord, the Naperville Municipal Band continued its 2017 Summer Concert Series in Central Park at 7:30PM Thursday evening, June 15.
The Concert titled “E Pluribus Enum” featured several vocal performances, a French horn solo and a pair of brass quartets. Amanda Halgrimson-Walzer, soprano, performed opera solo and as a duet with Paul Grizzell, baritone. Halgrimson-Walzer also received a standing ovation for her rousing version of “God Bless America.”

At 7:30PM every Thursday evening for the next nine weeks, concert-goers are invited to enjoy live music from park benches, their own blankets or folding chairs.
Everyone is welcome to purchase delicious homemade goodies at the Gazebo Bake Sale, hosted by a local charitable organization. The weekly bake sale also provides an opportunity for the nonprofit organization to meet the community and share its mission.
Every concert features a drawing with prizes sponsored by a local business and the NMB. Numbers for the free drawing are printed in 1,000 programs every week. Be sure to pick up a program for a chance to win!
The drawing sponsor for the second Naperville Municipal Band Concert of the season was Joan Ellman of Ellman’s Music Center. The Bake Sale host was the Lustgarten Foundation with a mission to “advance scientific and medical research related to the diagnosis, treatment, cure and prevention of pancreatic cancer.”
For 53 years, the award-winning Naperville Municipal Band has been under the musical direction of Conductor Ron Keller.
Central Park is located at 104 E Benton Ave. in downtown Naperville, behind U.S. Bank, northeast of Washington St. and Jefferson Ave., in downtown Naperville.
