Video Voice – In your neighborhood

-

For 30 years, Naperville Community Television has been showcasing the people, places, and perspectives of Naperville’s neighborhoods. Liz Spencer, our Executive Director, recently visited the Naperville Area Homeowners Confederation and talked to them about what’s happening at the station and how they can engage with their hometown TV station on behalf of their neighborhoods—which means your neighborhoods too!

Liz talked about Naperville Now, our daily update on what’s happening around town. This two-minute video updates you on everything, from candidate forums during election cycles, to curbside brush pick-up dates, to great plays made by our high school sports teams throughout the school year. Our news reporters are out in the community seven days a week capturing stories for Naperville’s only television news program: Naperville News 17. Any resident is welcome to send us a news tip about something happening in their neighborhood at newstips@NCTV17.com. Liz introduced the NAHC to reporter and anchor Alyssa Bochenek’s story on Saybrook’s 50th anniversary celebration. Alyssa introduced us to one Saybrook resident who chronicled the history of his neighborhood in his book, Building Saybrook. We wouldn’t have known about this man or this neighborhood’s story without someone sending us an email!

Another exciting neighborhood-based segment launched last month in (630) Naperville: “Nominate Your Neighbor.” Our first story shares Jolene Arrend’s influence on one family and her entire neighborhood; it’s worth a watch! To nominate a neighbor who is making a difference in the lives of others, visit nctv17.com/nominate-your-neighbor.

Lastly, Liz invited all of the neighborhoods to join us on Wednesday, June 28 for our next episode of Game On! This episode will bring two teams of Napervillians together for a friendly ‘northside’ versus ‘southside’ Battle of the Neighborhoods competition, which pays tribute to the summer baseball rivalry of Cubs versus Sox! Tickets to be part of the live studio audience are $30 and on sale now at nctv17.com/product/game-on-ticket.

Whether you watch us on air or online, we encourage you and your neighbors to engage with NCTV17. Sign up for Naperville Now. Send us a news tip about something happening in your neighborhood. Nominate your neighbor. Join us for Game On! Or simply share one of our hundreds of stories so we can accomplish our mission of: Connecting our Community by sharing your stories!
