Pulse of Naperville Music Scene – Rockin’ for the Troops returns July 22

-

It’s time to get excited about summer and bask in all the shimmering glory of outdoor music festivals! Arguably, the most precious of these festivals is Rockin’ For The Troops, which is set to take place on Sat., July 22, at Northwestern Medicine Field, home of the Kane County Cougars in Geneva.

This 11th Rockin’ for the Troops event will play host to one of the greatest classic rock bands of all time, Lynyrd Skynyrd! With hits like “Sweet Home Alabama” and “Free Bird,” the Hall Of Fame act will perform with all proceeds benefiting the military family and veteran support programs of Operation Support Our Troops – America.

Starting at 2:30PM, The Empty Pockets, The Voices, and Ayla Brown will get the crowd warmed up for Skynyrd’s set, with a celebratory fireworks display to follow at around 10PM.

If you’ve ever been to Wrigley Field or another baseball stadium to see a concert, you know that they provide a particularly majestic setting for music. Come out and absorb that aura while you lend a helping hand to our brave men and women in uniform. Organizers will even be collecting donations of DVD’s, CD’s, and iTunes gift cards to put in Christmas stockings for the troops.

There couldn’t be a more fitting band to honor our troops. Lynyrd Skynyrd has been an outspoken supporter of the U.S. military for decades, writing songs about their love of country while doing countless benefit shows and tributes for our veterans. Look for their set to be a very special, emotionally-charged masterwork.
