Naperville Art League members were delightfully surprised when they found themselves to be the recipients of a call-for-artists from the gallery director of North Central College’s prestigious Schoenherr Gallery.
Due to an unanticipated cancelation, Nickole Lanham was left with an empty exhibit hall for the month of June. Acting quickly, she reached out to the organizers of the Naperville Art League, a rich resource for willing participants and extraordinary artwork. “We are always pleased to show the work of the League’s artists in our venue,” Lanham said. “It is a way for the Naperville audience to discover the abundance of talent in our community.”
Beginning June 2, North Central College’s Schoenherr Gallery will serve as host for the yet-to-be-named exhibit which will showcase the work of 33 artist members. Large and small 2-D and 3-D pieces in a variety of mediums will be on display. Mosaics, metal print, photography, mixed media and found objects are represented in this eclectic group show.
This event will mark the fifth collaboration between North Central College and the Naperville Art League and will further strengthen the relationship the two entities have built. Lanham wisely approached NAL’s then-president Laura Rivas early in her NCC career hoping to develop an alliance. The partnership has thrived over the past eight years as the joint efforts spawned successful results that raised the visibility of both entities.
Artists and art lovers are invited to an opening reception on June 2 from 6 to 8PM. An impressive array of complimentary appetizers and beverages will be served. The exhibit runs through July 9 and is free to the public.
