UPDATE May 11, 2017 / On November 23, 2016 at approximately 2:36AM, the Naperville Police Department and the Naperville Fire Department responded to the area of Naper Boulevard south of Ogden Avenue for the report of a single vehicle traffic crash.
The passenger and owner of the vehicle, David R. Dokken, 37, of Aurora, was subsequently pronounced deceased at Edward Hospital in Naperville.
The driver, Michael W. Vera 34, of Aurora, has been charged with Aggravated Driving Under the Influence, a Class 3 Felony, bond has been set at $1,000,000. Vera was served with charges on Wednesday (May 10, 2017) at the Kane County Jail, where he was being held on unrelated charges. The Naperville Police Department does not have a booking photo of Vera.
The Naperville Police wish to remind the public and the news media that a charge is merely an accusation, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

Original Post, Nov. 23, 2016 / On November 23, 2016, at approximately 2:36AM, the Naperville Police Department and the Naperville Fire Department responded to the area of Naper Boulevard south of Ogden Avenue for the report of a single vehicle traffic crash.
Initial investigation revealed that the vehicle involved in the crash, a green colored SUV, left the roadway and struck a tree. Two occupants have been transported from the crash to Edward Hospital for treatment of their injuries.
Due to the nature of the crash, members of the Naperville Police Department’s Traffic Unit specially trained in crash reconstruction responded to the scene and continue to investigate the incident.
