The Naperville Municipal Band is now accepting application letters for bake sale sponsors for the free series of 11 band concerts in Central Park this summer. The deadline to be entered in the lottery is Mon., March 6.

Concerts are held at 7:30PM on Thursdays from June 8 through Aug. 17, 2017. Any nonprofit organization serving the Naperville community is eligible to apply.

And what’s the most popular item at the bake sale? Pie. Pie. Pie. Homemade cookies and brownies come next.

Did you know?

The Naperville Municipal Band was established in 1859. With the Community Concert Center in Naperville’s Central Park as its home base, the city’s band entertains thousands of listeners every summer with its free weekly concerts, in addition to indoor fall, winter and spring concerts as well as the outdoor Tuba Christmas on the first Saturday in December.

What’s more, the Naperville Municipal Band has a long history of participating in the Memorial Day, Little Friends and Labor Day parades. The band also is featured in the Century Walk public art tour.

For 53 years, the Naperville Municipal Band has been under the leadership of Conductor and Musical Director Ron Keller, pictured above.  His longtime friend Ann Lord has been keeping the concerts moving with historic banter and local lore for more than 60 years.  This summer, NMB members who have been playing in Central Park for 50 years will be recognized. Students receiving NMB music scholarships also will be honored. Every concert features a different theme for joyful sounds and tradition on Thursday evenings in Central Park from June 8 through Aug. 17, 2017.
