For a television station, the studio is its foundation. At NCTV17, our studio at 127 Ambassador Drive is the heart of our operation and the place where we welcome the community to join us on many of our studio-based programs including Live Election Coverage, Spotlight, Business Connection, Inside the Chamber, Career Center, and the anchor portions of our weekly news and sports programming.
As the world moves forward and enjoys the picture quality of HD so must NCTV17. As a nonprofit, we are ever-mindful of stretching our limited financial resources, but after 15-plus years, our four SD studio cameras are on their last legs and need to be replaced by current HD technology. We have been very diligent and good stewards of our dollars, so over the past few years we’ve carefully planned and put into place the other key components necessary to make the transition to a fully HD studio, such as a digital control room and new lighting grid.
As we enter our 30th Anniversary year, we are going to launch our first capital campaign to help us purchase four HD studio cameras and the necessary support technology to move NCTV17 from SD (standard definition) to HD (high definition). We have already raised 40 percent of the necessary funds. Our goal is to raise the remaining $30,000 so we can purchase and install this new technology by late spring 2017.
