On December 4, 2016 at approximately 12:50AM, the Naperville Police and Fire Departments responded to the intersection of Route 59 at Brookdale Road for the report of a vehicle striking a pedestrian.
Upon arrival, responding units observed a black 2011 Honda and a pedestrian in the intersection. The Fire Department provided emergency medical attention to the pedestrian who was seriously injured and transported to Edward Hospital.
Preliminary investigation indicates the driver of the Honda was southbound on Route 59 and the pedestrian was westbound crossing Route 59 at Brookdale Road when the collision occurred.
Due to the nature of the crash, members of the Naperville Police Department’s Traffic Unit, trained in traffic crash reconstruction, responded to the scene to investigate the crash. During the course of the initial investigation segments of Route 59 and Brookdale Road were closed and rerouted until approximately 4:20AM.
No charges or citations have been issued at this time, as the investigation continues.
