End of the Year Message from Superintendent Dan Bridges

While today marks the end of the 2015-2016 school year, it also represents new beginnings for each of our students. Over the past week our schools have celebrated commencements and other moving on ceremonies. Each of those events carries the significance of celebrating next steps for our students in their educational journeys. They also celebrate the academic, social, emotional, and physical growth each student has made this year. Feelings of uncertainty and unknown on the first day of school have been replaced by a sense of pride, accomplishment, confidence, and anticipation for what comes next.

I continue to be amazed by all that we are able to accomplish as a school community thanks to the partnership that exists between the students, staff, parents, and community of Naperville 203. Our collaboration is what makes us exemplary. Indeed, we are all part of the Naperville 203 family and we all play important roles in contributing to our success. Thank you for your ongoing support, engagement, and belief in what we are trying to accomplish.

As we head into the summer, we do so with some uncertainty regarding state funding for schools for the coming year. While K-12 funding was in place for this past year, an education budget for the 2016-2017 school year has not yet been approved. I am working with our legislators to ensure they understand and represent the interests of Naperville 203 and that a solution is put in place that will not result in less state resources for our children. Naperville 203 is committed to maintaining financial vigilance to ensure that all resources are used to best support student learning. I will keep you updated.

On behalf of everyone with Naperville Community Unit School District 203, I wish you a happy and safe summer. Thank you again for all you do to support.

Sincerely,

Dan Bridges, Superintendent of Schools
