This week’s Naperville City Notes with a few PN photos & a birthday wish for Dad

-

Above / As PN’s publisher, I’m enjoying this once-in-a-lifetime happenstance when my father is celebrating his 93rd birthday on the same day as this May 18 edition of City Notes!

Note to Dad: Happy Birthday, dear Dad! (Pictured here with my mother a year ago.)  Thanks for always lending me your tools for my many projects, especially your typewriter back when I first published and distributed the “Rolling Oaks News” for our neighbors as a kid.

And as always, thanks for reading PN and for visiting our website.

Did you know? Hotel Arista was awarded Four Stars by Forbes Travel Guide.

When you head to the Hotel Arista, CityGate Grille, Sugar Toad or Tap In Pub & Carvery at CityGate Centre or a new experience at Top Golf on Naperville’s northwest side, be mindful of the new traffic configuration at I-88 and Route 59 that may create a little confusion for first-time users.

As always, drive with caution according to weather conditions and observe the speed limit. The innovative diverging diamond interchange, now open, is expected to enhance traffic flow on and off I-88.

(The first diverging diamond interchange opened to traffic in the state of Illinois on I-57 at Marion on August 12, 2015. Diverging diamond interchanges are now operational in 18 states across the nation, with plans to construct them in six other states.)

Have you read the latest about the Independent Map Amendment?

According to recent news reports, organizers and supporters petitioning to put redrawing the Illinois District Maps question on the General Election Ballot, Nov. 8, 2016, are on their way to having the signatures they need.

Visit Independent Map Amendment to check their progress as they aim to create a nonpartisan 11-member board and “a system where the voters choose their representatives instead of the representatives choosing their voters.” (By the way, folks have been in front of the DMV in Hobson West with petitions to help get the amendment on the ballot.)
