Madden Theatre is located in the North Central College Fine Arts Center.

Titled “Joan Curto Sings Cole Porter, From Major to Minor,” the performance begins at 6PM Sunday, May 15, in the College’s Madden Theatre at the Fine Arts Center, 171 E. Chicago Ave.

Tickets are $35 and $30; call the North Central College Box Office at 630-637-SHOW (7469) or visit northcentralcollege.edu/showtix.

Called “a cabaret icon” by NBC 5 Chicago, Curto has appeared in concerts and clubs around the nation, honoring some of America’s greatest songwriters. Her 16-year cabaret career is comprised of shows that celebrate artists such as Stephen Sondheim, Billy Strayhorn and, most recently, Cole Porter.

Porter was a famous composer and songwriter of the early 20th century, known for his smart lyrics and complex rhythms. Many of his songs are featured in Broadway musicals and film. Some of these well-known songs include “Easy to Love,” “I’ve Got You Under My Skin” and “Night and Day.”

The title of Curto’s show includes the phrase “major to minor,” referring to a line in one of Porter’s most popular and Curto’s favorite song, “Every Time We Say Goodbye.”

This show has enjoyed sold-out performances nationwide. It will feature classic Porter tunes and some lesser-known songs, as well as some of the cleverest, funniest and most romantic tunes ever written.
