Ten new camps to explore in 2016
This year, 10 new camp offerings will make their debut, including triathlon camps, computer programming for girls, and two faith-based offerings with one focusing on the arts. They complement the popular athletic, academic, creative arts and special interest camps.
Some camps last several days and include meals, while some workshops may last a few hours. Fees vary depending on the length and type of camp or workshop.
For athletes, North Central College offers summer camps in baseball, basketball, soccer, softball, pole vault, cross country, track and field, volleyball, triathlon, wrestling and swimming. Some camps focus on developing advanced skills, while others emphasize building knowledge and fundamentals of the sport. Campers will learn from quality instructors and head coaches from the North Central College community.
Other popular camps include the WONC radio workshop, musical theatre for both junior and high schoolers, and classes in creative writing, game programing, video production, photography, Japanese language and culture, and more.
Community Musicals
Three community musicals will be presented and directed by North Central faculty and friends of the Fine Arts. “Seussical” will be performed June 24-26 and July 1-3 and is available to children and adults ages 8 and up. “Oklahoma” will be staged July 29-31 and Aug. 5-7 for ages 8 and up. The Summer Light Opera “Gilbert and Sullivan’s Pirates (and Piracy)” will be performed July 8-10 and 14-16 and is available for adults ages 18 and up.
Vocal auditions for the opera are on May 5 and for the two musicals on May 7. Dance auditions for the musicals are May 6. Callbacks for both musicals take place May 8.
