Special to PN
by Kate Schultz, for the City of Naperville
Are you one of those people who wants to be “in the know” all the time? Is that bad? No! It’s never bad to know what’s going on around Naperville. If you haven’t signed up for Naper Notify, you’re missing out on one of the best ways to stay informed.
Naper Notify is the City of Naperville’s mass notification system, which is a fancy way of saying the City can call, text or email you when something important is happening.
Naper Notify lets the City reach out in an emergency that affects some – or all – parts of Naperville. There are also seven different non-emergency categories – like brush and leaf collection, plowing/salting updates, and traffic alerts – to let you know when something isn’t status quo.
Indian Prairie School District 204 Director of Support Services Tim Keeley shared recently that the district relies on the information from Naper Notify to help their operations run smoothly. Following an early morning accident at 95th Street and Book Road, Naper Notify gave the district a heads-up so it could reroute buses and notify schools and parents of potential transportation delays.
“This is just one of the numerous alerts we received this year that have given (us) the opportunity to stay ‘ahead of the game’ in terms of dealing with changing road and infrastructure conditions,” Keeley wrote. “Again, thanks so much . . . for maintaining this vital communication system.”
