At approximately 2:49AM on December 5 , Naperville Police officers responded to 1663 N. Rt. 59 for the report of an armed robbery. Upon arrival, the officers learned that the suspect had fled the scene.
The clerk, who was uninjured, reported that a male subject had entered the business, displayed a handgun, and took an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes. The clerk provided a description of the suspect, which included a description of what type of clothing the suspect was wearing.
Officers disseminated the information to other Naperville units and surrounding local law enforcement agencies. A short time later, an Aurora Police Officer located a vehicle, in the area of Gregory Dr. and Commons Rd., whose driver appeared to match the description.
A traffic stop was conducted and based on information obtained during the stop the driver, who was the sole occupant, was arrested for the armed robbery.
The suspect was charged with two counts of aggravated robbery (Class 1 Felony).
Suspect Information: Norris, Gerald G., 9/29/94, 213 Gregory St. Aurora, IL 60504.
Note: The Naperville Police wish to remind the public and the news media that a charge is merely an accusation, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
