The Y – Mayor’s Community Breakfast is Dec. 4

-

Each morning when I arrive at the YMCA to begin my workday, I feel fortunate to be greeted by a wonderful group of members. These lively individuals have come to the YMCA for a variety of reasons but have grown to enjoy each other’s company. Watching our members transform from strangers to friends brightens each of my days.

It’s wonderful to have a sense of belonging and be part of a community, whether it’s our neighborhood, church, school, YMCA social group or running club. Why we come together isn’t as important as what we gain from being part of these groups. It’s good for our well-being to have the love and support of others.

At the Naperville YMCAs, we want everyone to have a sense of belonging. Our staff is united by a shared commitment to nurture the potential of kids, promote healthy living and foster a sense of social responsibility. Our support goes beyond a swim lesson, fitness class, basketball game or childcare program – it’s about uplifting the human spirit.

As we move into the holiday season, we as a Naperville community should challenge ourselves to ensure that we are reaching out to those who may not have that sense of social acceptance and support. We invite you to join us for the Naperville YMCAs Mayor’s Community Breakfast on Dec. 4, at the Fry Family YMCA to celebrate our community and the season of giving.

I’m appreciative of and thankful for the YMCA members who greet me each morning with a warm smile and a “hello.” I would not want to start my day any other way.

Please contact us (630) 904-9595 for more information about the Mayor’s Community Breakfast.
