History Speaks Lecture Series: The Art and Life of Frida Kahlo

Dr. Michelle Paluch-Mishur of Art Excursions, Inc. presents a lecture on “The Art and Life of Frida Kahlo” from 4 to 5PM Sunday, Nov. 8 at Naper Settlement’s Century Memorial Chapel. This program, which is part of the History Speaks Lecture Series, provides an art historical context for Kahlo’s work and examines the interrelationship between various events in Kahlo’s life and her powerful artwork, which includes numerous self-portraits. Day of event tickets are $7 adults, $6 youth (4-12), students and Settlement-6 members and above. Advance tickets save $1 each.

Weed Ladies Winter Floral Design Sale

The Weed Ladies winter floral design sale featuring holiday-themed floral arrangements and accessories will be held from 10AM to 4PM Thursday-Saturday, Nov. 12-14 and from 1 to 4PM Sunday, Nov. 15. Admission to the sale is free. Proceeds from the sale benefit Naper Settlement’s education and preservation programs.

Tea & Trivia – A Very Merry Unbirthday

Hurry! Hurry! Don’t be late for this very important date: Saturday, Nov. 14 from 2 to 3:30PM. Celebrate the 150th anniversary of Lewis Carroll’s “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” on a trip through Wonderland with puzzles, trivia, and of course, a mad tea party. Take a tour of the Martin Mitchell Mansion, then learn little-known facts about the book, movie and author while playing trivia games and munching on sweet treats in the museum’s Pre-Emption House Tavern. For ages teen to adult. Tickets are $23 per person. Reservations are required; call (630) 420-6010.

Naper Lights

Stroll the museum grounds and experience a magical holiday lights celebration from 5 to 9PM Thursdays through Saturdays from Nov. 27 to Jan. 1. The spectacular lights display is presented by The Rotary Club of Naperville Sunrise. Free admission.
