I was recently chatting with someone about a trip to Great America. She described a ride on the Goliath roller coaster that took her and her companions through a heart-pounding, scream-inducing, thrill-a-minute adventure. You see, Goliath is for adrenaline junkies only, certainly not the faint of heart. She described the 165ft lift, the 180ft drop and the 72mph ride. It was a blast! She and her daredevil companions couldn’t wait to do it again, though she admitted that it was only her doing the screaming while the rest were laughing wildly.
It was just another ‘day at the office’ for that WDSRA staff member. The folks doing the laughing were none other than a group of adventure seeking WDSRA participants.
Then there was the conversation with someone whose ‘office’ was a gym and field. Their ‘office supplies’ included a colorful parachute and hula hoops. They were talking about the Special Olympics Young Athletes (SOYA) program that they work every week. Watching the littlest kiddos learn to run, jump, and have fun! The best part … watching these little boys and girls come back week after week with a BIG smile on their face.
That is exactly what WDSRA part time seasonal staff and volunteers get to experience with WDSRA programs. You can be a part of a team of enthusiastic people making a difference in people’s lives. Choose your time commitment with flexible schedules. Choose to work weekends, evenings, daytime, or any combination. This is perfect for students, teachers, parents, or anyone with a few hours a week to spare. And your commitment is by season so you can change it as needed.
Our fall programs have started but we are still in need of part-time seasonal staff and volunteers. We are hiring immediately. To start the process, go to www.wdsra.com to fill out an application or call us at (630) 681-0962. The fun and adventure is yours for the taking!
