Chamber legislative meeting will highlight energy efficiency and costs

-

chamberDuring its continuing series of Legislative Committee Meetings, the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce has planned a presentation by the Energy Institute – Cool DuPage as well as the City of Naperville regarding Electrical Rates for its membership.

The regular monthly meeting will be held from 11:30AM to 1PM Mon., Oct. 12, at the Sheraton Lisle Hotel.

Note the change in venues. The Sheraton Hotel is located at 3000 Warrenville Road in Lisle.

The aim of the presentation from DuPage County’s Cool DuPage Initiative is to better understand sustainability and ways to lower energy costs.

According to the Chamber’s announcement, in 2012, DuPage County approved the Cool Counties Initiative as a way of accepting new environmental challenges. The Cool Counties plan set goals of reducing greenhouse gases from 2007 levels by 10 percent by the year 2020 and by 20 percent by 2030.

To move these goals forward, the County brought together the DuPage Green Government Council (GGC), an entity comprised of utility and energy efficiency experts and community members to draft this plan of action. This project will continue to put the county at the forefront of saving energy through the continued pursuit of newer technologies.

In addition, Naperville City Manager Doug Krieger will provide an update from the recent electrical workshop and discuss the impacts of the new rates.

Kevin Gensler is current Chairman of the Legislative Committee.

Registration for this meeting is $15.
