The City of Naperville Department of Public Utilities – Water has contracted with H. Linden and Sons to begin a sanitary sewer replacement project on Franklin Avenue beginning Monday, September 14. Work will be done in the south lane between Main and Washington Streets.

Above / At the turn west from Washington Street, Franklin Avenue is clearly marked that construction is about to begin. Note, too, that the speed limit is 25 mph along the neighborhood street and will be even slower when construction is in progress.

While Franklin Avenue will remain open to local and emergency traffic, motorists should expect intermittent and temporary accessibility issues based on the day-to-day work throughout the course of the project. During each day of work, access to driveways may be interrupted. However, full access to all properties will be restored at the end of each work day. Barricades will be used as necessary to indicate closed areas and detour routes will be marked.

The new sanitary sewer will be installed in the south lane starting near the intersection of Franklin Avenue and Main Street continuing up to the end of the property line at 22 Franklin Ave. The project also includes replacement of sanitary services up to individual property lines. All parkway trees will be preserved and any disturbed grass areas or driveway curtains will be repaired as necessary at the end of the project.
