Youth representatives are sought to serve on City Boards and Commissions

-

Above / The Riverwalk in the heart of downtown is directed by members of the Naperville Riverwalk Commission, a group that promotes, encourages and guides its development and use.  The Riverwalk Commission meets at 7:30AM on the second Wednesday of every month and is among the boards and commissions that welcomes Naperville high school student to submit Letters of Interest to serve by Sept. 28.

Mayor Steve Chirico and the Naperville City Council would like to extend an invitation to Naperville high school students to fill student positions on several City boards and commissions.

Interested students should submit a one-page essay indicating which board or commission they are most interested in serving on and why. The essay should also include a description of the strengths they would bring to a board or commission; what they hope to gain from the experience; and the student’s name, address, phone number, high school, and grade level. Preference is given to high school juniors and seniors; however, all high school students may apply.

Applicant essays may be submitted by mail or in person to the Mayor’s Office at the Municipal Center, 400 S. Eagle St., or by e-mail to trotze@naperville.il.us. The deadline for submitting letters of interest is Monday, September 28, 2015. Students should anticipate actively participating on the board or commission; therefore, consideration should be given to the time commitment required.
