Learn about old Naperville, and see the new Naperville. This one hour Historic Tour of Naperville blends the past with the present, highlights Naperville’s growth, and includes some fun stories. Offered every Friday, departing at 11AM during June, July, and August. Meet at the ‘Trolley Stop’ on Jackson Ave at Eagle Street by 10:50AM. $15 per person. It’s a ‘must do’ while in town. Ding! At 10AM Joannie, Perennial Retail Manager in Aurora will teach you all about her favorite subject–herbs! This free class will cover some of her favorite plants, recipes, and how to successfully grow herbs. (no registration required) At 11AM we’re excited to welcome Andrew Parravano from Andrew’s Garden to teach a floral arranging class. He will use flowers you might find in your garden ( call 630.355.4000 to register for this hands-on workshop, cost is $50 and includes a vase and the flowers used in the arrangement.) At 1PM, Mary, Landscape Design Manager, will show you how to create your own cutting garden. This free class will cover appropriate plants and how to make a garden in a variety of styles–including a cottage garden. (no registration required) 9AM-1PM: Enter a garden-picked bouquet in our flower competition. The winner will be announce at 2PM and receive a gift certificate to The Growing Place.

Today’s grilling will be repeated every Saturday and Sunday with lunchtime favorites until next fall. Picnic tables provide seating under cover. 10th Annual Rockin’ for the Troops – Noon – 10PM | $25

Operation Support Our Troops hosts Rockin’ for the Troops 2015 on Sat., July 18, 2015, featuring the Gary Sinise with the Lt. Dan Band (8:45PM), The Voices (6:15PM), Maggie Speaks (3:30PM) and the Chicago Blues Allstars (1:45PM). Tickets are still $25 online and at local Jewel-Osco locations. Each $25 admission ticket pays the shipping costs for one of OSOT-America’s comfort packages being sent to U.S. military service member serving in harm’s way, or contributes toward the funding of other OSOT-America’s programs. The third annual Naperville Ale Fest will feature over 180 unique beers from craft breweries around the country. Some of Napervilles best restaurants and catering companies will also be in attendance. A portion of the proceeds from the Naperville Ale Fest will be donated to the Naper Settlement and the Naperville Heritage Society. Naper Settlement is closed for the festival. Naper Settlement will be closed to the public on Saturday, July 18 for the Naperville Ale Fest. The festival is open to the public from 1 to 5PM Ages 21 and over. ^^^^^Heat Alert! ^^^^^Naperville Ale Fest Organizers are prepared for tomorrow’s fest at Naper Settlement and the predicted hot temperatures. The air-conditioned Preemption House will serve as a cooling center for fest attendees. Free bottled water will be available to all attendees and shaded seating areas will be provided under the trees on the festival grounds. Attendees are reminded to come early to avoid lines to gain admittance. A valid photo ID is required along with a ticket to enter the grounds. Tickets will be available at the gate, at the Martin Mitchell Mansion entrance on Aurora Avenue just east of Naperville Central High School. No one under 21 will be admitted.
