Street patching the week of June 15 will reduce Washington Street to one lane in each direction between Gartner Road and Aurora Avenue between the hours of 9AM and 3PM.
The temporary lane closures are necessary as crews repair sections of deteriorated pavement as part of the City of Naperville’s 2015 Street Maintenance Improvement Program. All entrances and exits to and from Edward Hospital will remain open.
Work is scheduled to begin Monday, June 15, weather permitting, and will take place between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to minimize disruption to traffic flow during peak travel times. Motorists are urged to use caution, exercise patience and allow additional travel time when traveling in this area.
Weather permitting, the street patching on Washington Street is scheduled to end Friday, June 19.
The City annually evaluates its roadways and selects cost effective maintenance treatments to enhance and extend the useful life of the pavement. Bituminous patching is a cost effective rehabilitation technique that involves the replacement of isolated sections of deteriorated pavement. In combination with other maintenance treatments such as crack sealing, the life of the street may be substantially extended before expensive resurfacing is needed.
