2015 Positively Naperville All-Area Prep Baseball Team

SP: Ryan Eiermann (Naperville Central): 8-1 with a 0.56 ERA and 114 Ks in 75 2/3 IP
Eiermann, the TCU-bound sophomore left-hander who earned Co-DVC Pitcher of the Year honors, struck out 114 on his way to compiling an 8-1 record and a 0.56 ERA. He started the season by throwing 54 innings without allowing an earned run.

SP: Glenn Kozlowski (Naperville Central): 8-2 with a 1.44 ERA and 50 Ks in 63 1/3 IP

Kozlowski, a senior right-hander, matched Eiermann for the Redhawks’ team lead in victories with eight. His presence helped give the Redhawks a solid top two to lead the rotation.

SP: Jason Neville (Waubonsie Valley): 7-2 with a 1.34 ERA and 53 Ks in 57 2/3 IP

Neville, a junior right-hander, had seven victories for a Warrior team that won 28 games in 2015. The All-Upstate Eight Valley pick gave Bryan Acevedo a solid No. 2 behind ace Brandon Petersen.

SP: Brandon Petersen (Waubonsie Valley): 6-1 with a 1.09 ERA and 59 Ks in 58 IP

Tabbed as the Waubonsie Valley ace by Acevedo before the season began, Petersen had a solid junior season. His 1.09 ERA led a deep Warriors’ staff and allowed him to earn All-Upstate Eight Valley honors.

SP: Jack Szott (Metea Valley): 9-4 with a 1.08 ERA and 117 Ks in 71 1/3 IP

The Western Michigan-bound Szott leaves the Metea Valley program as both its single-season and career strikeout leader at 117 and 157, respectively. The All-Upstate Eight Valley pick had seven double-digit strikeout games for the Mustangs.

C: Matt Gould (Neuqua Valley): .369, 30 RBI, 8 R and .882 OPS

Gould, ticketed for Jefferson College in Hillsboro, Mo., finished second on the 25-win Wildcats with his .369 average and his 30 RBIs. The senior earned All-Upstate Eight Valley honors while giving Neuqua Valley consistent offense from behind the plate.

1B: Jacob Petersen (Metea Valley): .447, 27 RBI, 16 R and 1.114 OPS

Petersen was one of three Mustangs to receive All-Upstate Eight Valley recognition. When not pitching, he patrolled first base for Metea Valley and led its offense in average, RBIs and OPS as a senior.

2B: Conner Lovely (Metea Valley): .348, 9 RBI, 19 R and .863 OPS

Lovely, a junior, ended up fourth on Metea Valley in hitting at .348 and tied for third on the team with his 19 runs scored.

SS: Garret Howicz (Waubonsie Valley): .436, 25 RBI, 34 R and 1.083 OPS

The Xavier-bound Howicz paced the Warriors’ offense all year long. The All-Upstate Eight Valley selection led Waubonsie Valley with his .436 average, 34 runs scored and a OPS of 1.083.

3B: Ryan Jones (Waubonsie Valley): .390, 2 HR, 28 RBI, 25 R and 1.012 OPS

Jones finished second to Howicz in both average and runs scored at .390 and 25, respectively. His 28 RBIs led the way for a Warriors’ offense that proved potent for much of the year as the program won the second-most games in its history.

OF: Alex Garon (Naperville North): .362, 2 HR, 18 RBI, 32 R and 1.013 OPS

One of two Huskies to earn All-DuPage Valley Conference First Team honors, Garon was a dynamic threat out of the leadoff spot. The senior center fielder was second on Naperville North in average but led in runs scored and with 15 doubles.

OF: Bobby McMillen (Naperville Central): .361, 6 HR, 29 RBI, 27 R and 1.032 OPS

The Iowa State-bound linebacker garnered All-DuPage Valley Conference First Team accolades after leading the Redhawks in homers, RBIs, runs scored and OPS.

OF: Tyler Tesmond (Neuqua Valley): .365, 3 HR, 34 RBI, 30 R and 1.018 OPS

The Eastern Illinois-bound Tesmond led Neuqua Valley’s offense with 34 RBIs, 30 runs scored and his OPS of 1.018. The .365 average for the All-Upstate Eight Valley selection was good for third on team.

DH: Billy Oliver (Naperville Central): .398, 24 RBI, 12 R and 1.003 OPS

Oliver received a spot on the All-DuPage Valley Conference First Team after leading the Naperville Central offense with his .398 average. His 24 RBIs and 1.003 OPS were second on the 19-win Redhawks to McMillen, as well.

Metea Valley: C Matt Fitzgerald: .320, 1 HR, 25 RBI, 8 R and .892 OPS; SS Andy See: .410, 18 RBI, 21 R and .963 OPS

Naperville Central: OF Kevin Clifford: .327, 1 HR, 18 RBI, 25 R and .848 OPS; C Justin Wegner: .371, 3 HR, 13 RBI, 5 R and .926 OPS

Naperville North: C/1B Mark Khoury: .330, 4 HR, 24 RBI, 13 R and 1.014 OPS; 3B Sam Siebers: .360, 3 HR, 22 RBI, 26 R and 1.060 OPS

Neuqua Valley: 3B Alex DiFranco: .377, 1 HR, 18 RBI, 24 RBI and .953 OPS

Waubonsie Valley: SP Preston Everts: 7-0 with a 2.04 ERA and 40 Ks in 55 IP; C Nick Price: .349, 21 RBI, 14 R and .802 OPS
