In May, six locations of First Community Financial Bank put on a “Jeans Day” in support of an employee-selected charity. The casual dress occasion gives bankers a chance to learn about a worthwhile cause while making a contribution as well.
With check in hand on June 8, associates from the First Community Financial Bank arrived at Edward Hospital to present a donation of $510 to the Ronald McDonald Family Room, a direct result of their most recent employee fundraising event.
“We selected Ronald McDonald Family Room in Edward Hospital because it serves as a haven of respite and hospitality for families of patients with the most critical conditions,” said Lou Petritz, FCFB Market President. “At First Community Bank we believe in giving back by supporting the great work accomplished by local charities in our community.”
The Ronald McDonald Family Room is a place inside the hospital where families visiting children receiving treatment can go for a snack after a special procedure or rest during their child’s hospital stay. The Family Room provides space for healthy members of the patient’s family to gather and spend quality time together in a comfortable “home away from home.”
“Five hundred and ten dollars! Wow!” said Rhyne. “Thank you so much for choosing Ronald McDonald Family Room in Edward Hospital for your recent ‘Jeans Day’.”
Considering that one day of care costs $50 per family member, the donation will cover 10 nights of “care, comfort and compassion to families staying together,” explained Rhyne.
“That is amazing, and you all should be so proud,” she added. “Who knew that something as simple as dressing down for the day could make such an incredible impact, right down the road!”

After the check presentation, Rhyne gave the bankers pop tab collection containers for the lunchrooms at the six branch locations with details of how local teens were raising funds for Ronald McDonald House Charities simply by saving pop tabs by the pound. With the little effort it takes to collect and recycle pop tabs, Rhyne explained, individuals of all ages can help raise cash that adds up for Ronald McDonald House Charities.
