The Y – Summer camps at the Y

-

Summertime is right around the corner, and there’s so much for parents and kids to love! The season offers many opportunities to enjoy the outdoors and time with family, participate in different activities, meet new friends and make wonderful memories.

As you walk around Naperville, you can feel the warm sunshine and positive energy, hear the birds chirping and appreciate the blooming flowers.

It’s also the time of the year when students start to get excited for summer break, and parents consider ways to keep their children physically and mentally active. Studies show that children who are not engaged in some type of structured program or activity through the summer are more likely to participate in high-risk behavior.

The Naperville YMCAs are committed to ensuring children of all ages have a safe and meaningful summer. We have offered summer camp experiences for more than a century. Every year, more than 900 children attend our summer camp programs. The YMCA aims to make our programs and services available to everyone regardless of ability to pay. Last year, we provided over $25,000 of financial assistance to help people participate in programs they couldn’t otherwise afford.

Like many of our programs, YMCA camps are about engaging in physical, social and educational activities, learning skills, developing character and making friends. But few environments are as special as camp where kids can join a community that nurtures a love of nature, teaches them independence and self-reliance, encourages them to contribute to the group, and develop attitudes and skills that build leadership.

The YMCA is offering many camp options this summer. Children can participate in specialty camps, preschool camps, service-orientated camps, sports camps, traditional day camp, Counselor in Training, fitness camps and so much more. Let the Y help your child grow and thrive this summer. Visit ymcasafensound.org to register today or learn more.
