Find the most recent greeting  posted at the top of this selection as the page is updated throughout the month.

Occasionally, Greetings to PN also are linked to other online PN stories that are saved in our archive. Many greetings, edited for space for the printed publication, will appear in the next issue.

Thank you for keeping greetings as brief as possible. And thanks for sending your thoughts about this community with your signature. We welcome them!

TO PN Readers:  We have begun receiving letters to the editor from candidates. To be fair, we want all candidates to know they are welcome to send positive messages as they wrap up their campaigns. We’ll publish letters in the spirit of this publication this next week prior to the Consolidated Election on April 7, 2015.  Please send letters for consideration to our digital editor, tim@positivelynaperville.com.  Thanks!  —Stephanie Penick, Publisher

steve hyett reading PN
During a break, Kiwanis Pancake Festival Emcee Steve Hyett reads about the recent event in PN.

TO PN:  If there is an Oscar for best Emcee in a supporting role you have my vote. (To Steve Hyett for his participation in the 60th Kiwanis Pancake Festival) Thank you for an outstanding performance. And thank you for helping to make this another successful event. I appreciate the research you put in for the 1955 history lesson. It was a pretty amazing year. … Thank you so much. —Larry Costain, Naperville Evening Kiwanis

TO PN: Of the twenty candidates for City Council, I would like to know which part of Naperville they call home. Since they all pretty much have the same canned message, it comes down to geography for me. I tend to think our elected Naperville officials don’t travel south of 75th St. It’s pretty obvious the south side of Naperville doesn’t get much attention as one only has to look at the under development of 95th St. and Route 59. I would like to spend my entertainment dollars close to home instead of in Bolingbrook. There is a South Barrington for a reason! —Zippy Adams

Editor’s Note: In reply to this recent comment and other requests regarding where City Council Candidates live in order to determine if they represent all parts of the City, here’s a list with zip codes that reflect north of 75th St. (60540 and 60563) and south (60565 and 60564):

TO PN:  (Regarding the ballot choices for Regional Board of School Trustees in the Consolidated Election) …Because we are all identified by township, a good turnout by Naperville voters is crucial. Thanks for all your efforts to give Naperville voters the information they need to make clear choices. —Cathy Hanzelin, Candidate for Regional Board of School Trustees, Congressional Township 38N Range 9E (Naperville)

Editor’s Note:  Find the candidates on the ballot for Mayor, City Council, Naperville Park District Board of Commissioners, local school boards, College of DuPage Board of Trustees and Regional Board of Trustees with links to public forums when available.  Find PN’s Election and Voters’s Guide, up and running since early January, providing individual candidate profiles (unedited in their own words) with photos and a timeline of  when things happened in this historic election in Naperville. Yes. It’s kind of a big deal.

three-bears-3TO PN:  Please forward this comment to the Lamesch family, Thanks in advance.  My brother got over “Google Alert” this article and sent it to me, because I am interested in genealogy. My question to the Lamesch family: Do they have emigrated to the States or do they have their roots in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg? If so, it would be interesting to find out if a relationship between our two families exists. My address: Michel Lamesch, 42, rue Nicolas Biever, L-3425 Dudelange. —Best regards, Michel Lamesch

Editor’s Note: The above inquiry— in response to a story about a Lamesch family “three bears” totem pole— is our first from Luxembourg!  Small world, this Positively Naperville.

TO PN:  On behalf of the 7,000 Kiwanians in the Illinois-Eastern Iowa District, I’d like to thank you for this report on Kiwanis and Project Eliminate.  Your support is very much appreciated.  It is through the cooperation of UNICEF, Kiwanis International and local PR & fundraising  efforts that we will eliminate Maternal and Neo-Natal Tetanus worldwide. Again Thank You.  John E. Vanderheyden, Illinois-Eastern Iowa District Coordinator, Project Eliminate

TO PN:  Talk about good, positive PR.  I had a news release ready that I was going to send to Stephanie Penick at Positively Naperville on Monday morning about our upcoming Eliminate fundraiser.  Fred Reichelt called me right after the Pancake Festival Saturday afternoon and said that he had spoken to Stephanie at the Fest.  He discussed that Eliminate Project with her and she asked if we could get something to her about it asap to meet publishing deadlines.  Fred R. called me at 4:30PM, I sent the news release to Stephanie at 5:30PM, and she had it online shortly after that! Check out this link to some really great PR about Eliminate and Kiwanis.

Thank you, Stephanie!  And thank you, Fred Reichelt! —Fred Jacobs, Evening Kiwanis of Naperville
Editor’s Note: We aim to please, Kiwanis! Please note, however, you caught us during a brief break in the action. We regret that we cannot always respond so quickly!
shoshana
Shoshana Frank urges residents to become educated & absentee voters for the 2015 Consolidated Election.

TO PN: During my recent trip to Israel, I brought Shoshana information to read about our upcoming election.  Thanks to the great coverage in print and on line by Positively Naperville and NCTV17, Shoshana is staying informed in order to make an educated absentee vote for this all important local election.  At the same time she has watched and learned about another democracy’s election process as Israel has just completed its recent voting. An amazing and important time to keep up to date with local and global happenings.  Thank you to Positively Naperville for helping Shoshana stay connected while studying abroad.  —Peggy Frank

Editor’s Note:  Find local candidates, especially all 24 hopefuls running to serve on the City Council, at www.election.positivelynaperville.com. Thanks to all the candidates for being prepared all during this long campaign to help educate the voters.

TO Facebook:  I love it!!! (Cover of March issue with “A Lot of Goldens.”) I was wondering how it was going to work with us in the background! Great job…going to get the pictures laminated to keep forever! Thanks, again!!! —Stacey Abe

From left, BOB BEYER, NANCY QUIGLEY, RICH FEKETITSCH, STACEY ABE, LINDA FEKETITSCH, PATRICK FEKETITSCH and PAT BOWLER attracted plenty of onlookers as they tried to get Flynn, Charlie, Baxter, Murphy, Milo, Stockton and Murphy-the-elder to sit still for a photo that could be used for a pot of goldens.

TO PN: Once again you have a really great election page/information.  It is so helpful to voters, so thanks for your efforts. —Ginny Petru

TO PN:  As I said in my phone conversation and just posted on the reply section of your paper, the “on to R ” must be noted and shouted. Also your photos and text (with the above noted exception) were excellent (regarding new hand-crafted bow ties and the Naperville Chorus concert on April 24, 2015,). … I am now going to contact the two ladies ( one here and the other in Honduras ) and give them your paper’s web site so they can access your great photos.  Thank you again my friend for the excellent work.  —Garry Nelson

Editor’s Note: We hate misspelling names. GRRRRRR! Thanks, Garry, for the correction!  We live with the challenge of correcting too many “n’s” that individuals include in our last name, Penick.

TO State Rep. Grant Wehrli: Please have only the school nurse administer as others are not licensed to administer medication under guidelines of professional regulations!  Parents are thankful but need to be contacted immediately not hours or days later as is the case for other injuries happening at the school!  There is still, unfortunately, a disconnect of the school staff in communication to parents even with all the technology we parents have given them to connect with us immediately!  Just my two cents!  Thanks for such a great job! —Susan Kahn

TO PN Facebook: Travel safely (to Redbird Arena to cover Benet vs. Fremd in the girls basketball state finals)! Say “Hi” to our friends in Odell. —Jeff Anderson

TO PN Facebook: Thanks Positively Naperville for putting girls (basketball tournament) in a spotlight. —Georgiann Baldino

TO PN: Mr. Ronald Allen is a native of Naperville, Illinois, and he has performed the possible by writing a book about the Bid Whist game. He wants and opportunity to share his life story and why he has written the book titled ‘The Evolution of Bid Whist.’ … His story and his knowledge of the Bid Whist game will enlighten many of your readers. —Paul Lamar Hunter, #19 of 21

TO PN: Love the Goldens for St Patrick’s day. I attached two of my favorite Moses moments. —Candyce Krumwiede, former Naperville resident who now lives in South Carolina.

Editor’s Note: Your PN editors imagined the theme for March would be “A pot of goldens,” an idea presented by Chuck Corrigan to feature several golden retrievers in a pot on the cover with a rainbow for St. Patrick’s Day.

moses-spot-of-golden
A spot of golden shines on Moses.

When seven golden retrievers arrived for a photo on Quigley’s patio, we went to plan B with a title of “A lot of goldens.” On March 3, we received two adorable photos from Candyce Krumwiede in sunny South Carolina and are happy to promote all the golden opportunities with “A Spot of Golden” in this latest March issue, printed monthly and digital daily. Thanks to all dog and puppy owners for helping with PN’s St. Patrick’s Day story at the end of the rainbow.

TO PN: I have already posted and received pending approval (from Add Events).  Love PN.  GREAT way to learn about the community. Donna Morsovillo, founder, President, Operation Welcome You Home, www.welcomeyouhome.org.

TO PN: I just retrieved my March PN from the driveway. Thanks for including our ad again and including the plug for the candidates forums within it.  Looking forward to spending some time reading the issue later today. —Bob Fischer, President, Naperville Area Homeowners Confederation

Editor’s Note:  Bob Fischer won a golden star and an ad in a print edition of Positively Naperville after scoring tops in a trivia contest in 2014. We repeated the run of his ad because this month begins the NAHC series of candidate forums in advance of Naperville’s important Consolidated Election on April 7. Thanks for getting to know all the candidates. Be an informed voter.
