Metea Valley High School hosts Healing Field and Veterans Day Concert

Update 2015 / The National Healing Field Foundation is honored to join Operation Support Our Troops – America and the Naperville Park District in announcing that the 2015 Naperville Healing Field of Honor will be returning to downtown Naperville November 6-12, the week leading up to Veterans Day on Nov. 11.  INFO: www.healingfield.org/naperville.

2014 Post / From now through 10PM Tues., Nov. 11, 2014, the public is welcome to visit the Healing Field with 1,000 American flags at Metea Valley High School.  Daily hours to visit the Healing Field are 7AM to 10PM.

Visit the Metea Valley High School to experience 1,000 American flags on display in the Healing Field.

The Mustang football practice field has been transformed into a patriotic display of Old Glory in tribute to the men and women who have sacrificed in defense of freedom.

Each sponsored flag bears a tag naming the person honored by its display and the flag represents a story of individual sacrifice.  At the conclusion of the event, the sponsored flags with their tags will be retained by the sponsors to be flown at home or business increasing flag display in the surrounding communities.

Yellow hang tags pay tribute to men and women who have sacrificed and served in the military.

Flags may be sponsored for $35 if they are picked up after the event’s close.  Flags may be sponsored and shipped for $45.  Flags also are available for purchase at the same costs.  Proceeds from flag sales will benefit the educational programs of  Metea Valley High School.

Veterans Day Concert & Tribute 2014

The Metea Valley Marching Mustangs also will present a special Veterans Day concert at 12PM on Tues., Nov. 11 in the Metea Valley High School auditorium.

The free concert is open to the public.

The Marching Mustangs are joining forces with the Pete Ellman Big Band and the Legacy Girls to pay tribute to veterans. The Pete Ellman Big Band will play World War II era big band hits and will feature some of District 204’s music faculty. The Legacy Girls will sing some of the Andrews Sisters hit songs, and the Marching Mustangs will conclude the concert with music from their recent season.

Metea Valley High School is located at 1801 North Eola Road.  From Naperville, take North Aurora Road to Eola Road and turn right. The school is on the right side of the street.

RELATED NEWS:  As is tradition, the Naperville American Legion Post 43 and the Judd Kendall VFW Post3873 will observe Veterans Day at 11AM Tues., Nov. 11, at Veterans Park on Gartner Ave. Parking is available across the street at Grace United Methodist Church.
