The National Exchange Club’s Firefighter of the Year Program gives clubs opportunities to formally thank their local fire departments for their dedicated service while recognizing special firefighters for their actions above and beyond the call of duty.
This past October, the Exchange Club of Naperville honored Firefighter Brett Rosenwinkel as the 2014-15 Firefighter of the Year. Brett was chosen from an outstanding number of applicants for his involvement with the NFD Honor Guard and his volunteer efforts in fund raising for local Naperville charities.
As the Firefighter of the Year, Brett will be a Ribfest Judge, ride in the Jaycees Last Fling Parade with our Police Officer of the Year and participate in the September 11th Memorial Service.
Also, during the month of October, the Exchange Club of Naperville took part in the National Day of Service. The National Exchange Club began this program in October of 1999.
Organized on the fourth Saturday of October each year, this day has become a time when Exchange members find new ways to serve their community and bring positive exposure to their club. This year we helped two Ronald McDonald Houses. One is an area located inside Edward Hospital and the other is Ronald McDonald House near Loyola. Both groups received a donation from the club as well as food for the families spending time there with their children.
The Exchange Club meets for lunch at 11:45AM on the first and third Fridays of each month at Hugo’s Frog Pond. We would love for you to join us and consider becoming a member. Contact EmyTrotz@gmail.com for more information about the Exchange Club of Naperville or to attend a meeting.
