North Central College celebrates Homecoming Oct. 17-19

This weekend is one for the Cardinals as North Central College welcomes alumni to Homecoming, Oct. 17 through Oct. 19. The Naperville community invites all visitors to enjoy all that’s new in the heart of Naperville from the campus to numerous shopping and dining opportunities throughout downtown.

If you’re looking for red and white spirit wear to celebrate in style, find plenty at the North Central College Bookstore located at 100 E. Jefferson at Ellsworth.  Hours are 9AM-5PM Fri. and 11AM-3PM Sat. For more information, call the Bookstore at (630) 637-5635.

2014 Outstanding Alumni

During North Central’s Homecoming Reunion Celebration from 6 to 11PM Sat., Oct. 18, Becky Anderson of Naperville; William Gossell of Farmers Branch, Texas; and Jeff Swallow of Naperville, will be recognized with the 2014 Outstanding Alumni Award.  Wade Hicks of Framingham, Mass., will receive an Alumni Recognition Award and the Rev. Tom Babler of Naperville will receive a Wall of Witness honor. The celebration will be College’s Residence Hall/Recreation Center, 440 S. Brainard St.

Public campus events…

Oct. 17, High school football: North Central College hosts the annual Prairie Classic crosstown football matchup between Neuqua Valley and Waubonsie Valley high schools of Indian Prairie School District 204. Kickoff is at 7:30PM Friday, Oct. 17, in the College’s Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium, 455 S. Brainard St. For ticket information contact the high schools.

Oct. 17, Music: North Central College’s annual Homecoming Concert opens the concert season for the College’s Cardinal Chorus, Chamber Singers, Women’s Chorale, Concert Choir, Concert Winds and Jazz Combo I. The free concert will be held at 8PM Friday, Oct. 17, in the College’s Wentz Concert Hall at the Fine Arts Center, 171 E. Chicago Ave. Tickets are required; call 630-637-SHOW (7469) or visitnorthcentralcollege.edu/showtix.

Oct. 18, Parade: North Central College invites the public to view its annual Homecoming parade starting at 12:45PM Saturday, Oct. 18. The parade takes place on the College’s campus and begins at North Brainard and East School streets and proceeds south on Brainard to Championship Plaza, where a pep rally will be held.

Adjacent to Fredenhagen Park, the Riverwalk Gateway opens toward North Central College, creating a commemorative setting along the Riverwalk as it enters the site of the Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.

Oct. 18, Cardinal football: The North Central College Cardinals will play their Homecoming conference football game vs. Carthage College at 2PM Saturday, Oct. 18, at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium, 455 S. Brainard St. Tickets are $6/adults and free to students with a valid ID and to children ages 3 and under. For more information visit northcentralcardinals.com/football.

Oct. 18-19, Theatre: North Central College presents William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” guest directed by Kathryn Walsh at 7:30PM Oct. 18 and at 2 pPM Oct. 19 in the College’s theatre at Meiley-Swallow Hall, 31 S. Ellsworth St. Tickets are $10/adults and $8/students and seniors; call 630-637-SHOW (7469) or visit northcentralcollege.edu/showtix.
