Korean pianist to perform with DuPage Symphony Oct. 11

PianistThe engaging young pianist and 2013 CAG Victor Elmaleh Competition Winner Ko-Eun Yi will perform Saint-Saëns’ captivating fifth Piano Concerto with the DuPage Symphony Orchestra, led by Barbara Schubert at 8PM on Saturday Oct. 11 at Wentz Concert Hall on the campus of North Central College, 171 E. Chicago Ave.. The concert, titled The Cradle of Civilization, also features works by Berlioz, Mussorgsky, and Seven Passages from “Persian Trilogy” by the contemporary Iranian composer Behzad Ranjbaran.

Born in Seoul, Korea, Yi began her piano studies at the age of three. She earned her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees at The Juilliard School studying with Jerome Lowenthal and completed her Professional Studies degree with André-Michel Schub at Manhattan School of Music. She is now pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Stony Brook University with Christina Dahl.

Yi has earned critical acclaim and has garnered numerous top prizes in her young career, with recent successes at the 2010 World Piano Competition and the 2011 Wideman International Piano Competition.
