Four candidates filed to run in Naperville Park District Board Election

UPDATE Dec. 22, 2014 / Four local residents will vie for three four-year terms up for election on April 7, 2015. Two incumbents, Rich Janor and Marie Todd, have filed to run again. The challengers are Jim Ensign and Melvin Kim. A lottery on Mon., Dec. 29, will determine ballot position.

UPDATE Dec. 15, 2014 / Today’s the day filing begins for local residents who want to run to serve on the Naperville Park District Board of Commissioners in the Consolidated Election on April 7, 2015. Pay attention to see who files first for ballot placement. Filing will be held at the Naperville Park District Administration Offices.  Three four-year term are up. After 20 years of service, Commissioner Ron Ory will not seek re-election. One seat is open.

Consider a run for one of three seats on the Naperville Park Board of Commissioners in the April 7 Consolidated Election. Help set public policy and budgets.

Petition packets for the 2015 Naperville Park District Board of Park Commissioners election will be ready for pickup by interested Park Board candidates beginning Tuesday, September 23, 2014. Packets may be picked up from 8:30AM -5PM, Monday through Friday at the Park District Administration Building at 320 W. Jackson Ave. at the desk of Jacki Stern, Executive Administrative Assistant/Local Election Official.

Three positions will be up for election on April 7, 2015; newly elected commissioners will serve four-year terms.

Individuals who wish to run for a seat on the Board must be at least 18 years of age and a Naperville Park District resident for at least one year prior to the election.

Rich Janor, Ron Ory and Marie Todd hold the three Board positions that will expire in April 2015.

Potential candidates are allowed to circulate petitions beginning Tuesday, September 23.  A minimum of 335 signatures —two percent of the 16,741 ballots cast in the last Park District election—are required to complete the Nonpartisan Petition for Nomination.

The official filing dates are Monday through Friday, December 15 through 19 and Monday, December 22, 2014.

Editor’s Note:  Commissioner Ron Ory indicated early this year that he will not seek re-election. To see Naperville Park District Board of Commissioners in progress, their next meeting begins at 6PM Thurs., Sept. 25, in the South Maintenance Facility (Lunch Room), located at 3415 Book Rd.

The commission holds monthly regular meetings on the second and fourth Thursday. Public comments on parks and operations always are welcome during “Matters of the Public.” Note that meeting dates (and times) are subject to change.

Regular meetings are held in Council Chambers of the Naperville Municipal Center and in the lunch room at the Park District’s South Maintenance Facility.
