Naperville Farmers’ Market – 7AM to noon

Beginning the first Saturday in June through the last Saturday in October, the Farmer’s Market is open every Saturday from 7AM to noon at the Fifth Avenue Station parking lot.

Greater Chicago Soap Box Derby – 9AM | Free
1620 Frontenac Rd Naperville, IL 60563
Soap Box Derby race, boys and girls from the Chicago Land area ages 7 – 18 will be competing in gravity built cars. No charge for spectators, concession stand available, bring your lawn chairs. Location will be in Naperville at the corner of Diehl and Frontenac. Several club cars are available on a first come first served basis to anyone interested in racing. Call (630) 841-8832 for more info and to reserve your car. Registration is at 7AM on the day of the race and racing is from 9AM- 3PM.

Naperville Men’s Glee Club Open Rehearsal – 9:30AM

The Naperville Men’s Glee Club (NMGC) will hold an open rehearsal for male singers interested in membership. Attendees will have the opportunity to sing with the Glee Club for an hour, and then meet the members over light refreshments. Membership is by invitation or audition, which may be scheduled with Artistic Director Bonnie Klee Roberts following the open rehearsal. It’s official, this year’s Friends of Steph Breast Cancer fundraiser will be held on Sat., Sept. 13 from 12-6PM at Kreger’s Brat and Sausage Haus and throughout the entire block!  Food, fun, silent auction items and plenty of LIVE music. This year we will be partnering with Kathryn Manor. More details at the event under the tents! 

Naperville Independent Film Festival – 7PM | $8

Naperville Independent Film Festival is back for its annual festival.  Organizers of the Naperville Independent Film Festival aka NIFF present their 7th Annual Film Festival at AMC Showplace Naperville 16 and Smith Hall on the North Central College Campus, September 13-September 20. The Naperville Independent Film Festival was founded to celebrate Independent film long, short, fiction and documentary. The festival is committed to exhibiting films that express fresh voices and differing global perspectives, with the hope that these programs will enlighten audiences, provide invaluable exposure for filmmakers and present inspired entertainment for all. Over the seven years NIFF has screened over 1000 entries. And this year with over 125 films entered only 43 will make the big screen. Each night there will be a 7 and a 9PM show, and during the showing we’ll have at least one and usually a few short films followed by a feature length film. Tickets can be purchased at the door and on AMC’s online ticketing website. Tickets will admit one to one of either the 7 or 9PM showings. Also passes and packages allow filmgoers the best access to films, panels, parties, and more. Lunch is served fresh off the grill each Saturday and Sunday from 11AM – 2PM at Casey’s Foods. Choose from a variety of options, including burgers, brats, tacos or our weekly special. Add a dollar and get chips and a drink. It’s great food, at a good price, in a fun atmosphere.

Airborne Day 2014 – 11AM | $12

Join us in a celebration of all things Airborne! Airborne Day features an all-you-can-eat pig roast and full picnic, Glider men and Paratroopers from WWII to present day, military vehicles and memorabilia, demonstrations, games, and tons of family fun. We’ll also celebrate the 70th anniversaries of five WWII combat parachute jumps in 1944: Operation Overlord (France), Operation Dragoon (France), Operation Market Garden (Holland), Operation Table Tennis (New Guinea) and Operation Table Top (Philippines). This event is open to the public and is family-friendly. Proceeds will benefit the Chicago Chapter, 82nd Airborne Division Association and its various charities.
