Many teens are reluctant to start another school year.
I have to admit I felt the same in some ways, but I also was excited because that meant another year of shows and performances that would welcome my participation at Naperville North. Some of my fondest memories include discussing with my friends what the musical should be that year or what dances we should perform in our dance showcase.
Many of the plays, musicals, and concerts put on by the schools have so much talent. In fact, the talent could rival some of the most professional choirs, instrumentalists and actors on stage today. I remember how glorious a moment it was to look out from the stage and see a packed house. It made us feel that people appreciated our talent and all of the hard work we put into our performances.
The community should know that supporting the arts at our schools creates a wonderful spirit among the talented musicians, actors and dancers. I know they love to see a sold out crowd just as much as I did. Please remember you’re appreciated when choosing what show to see next.
For those residents that already support the arts in schools, the community and performers are truly grateful. I am still thankful to all individuals who continue to take the time to see a school performance of any sort.
Please remember to check out all the opportunities throughout the year and to support live performing arts at North Central College, local high schools, local theater organizations and more. Many of those opportunities are featured on these pages and posted online daily at www.positivelynaperville.com.
Good luck to the students starting school and don’t forget, break a leg!
