The Naperville Art League Riverwalk Fine Art Fair is funded, in part, by SECA to help pay for city services required to run the event. The 2014 Riverwalk Fine Art Fair is Sept. 20-21.

About the SECA Fund

The City of Naperville encourages celebrations of community and cultural opportunities that focus on the heritage, diversity and character of the City.

In support of these activities, the City offers funds, derived from the citywide one percent (1%) food and beverage tax, for the purpose of aiding eligible non-profit organizations in providing new and continued cultural experiences. The SECA fund grant began in 2005.

Nine community volunteers that comprise the Advisory Cultural Commission will provide a funding recommendation to the City Council. The Council will determine FY 2016 allocations at a workshop on a to-be-determined date in spring 2015. SECA allocations will be formally approved at an April 2015 City Council meeting.

All interested applicants are encouraged to review the SECA manual and other related information. For more information on the SECA fund, visit www.naperville.il.us/seca.aspx.

Maintenance for the city’s natural treasure, the Naperville Riverwalk, is funded by the SECA Fund.

Editor’s Note: Currently, several annual agreements exist for SECA Fund recommendations.  For instance, SECA pays costs of administration of the fund, Naperville Park District for Riverwalk maintenance, Naperville Municipal Band for contracted concerts and parades as well as DuPage Children’s Museum Debt Service. Other city initiatives such as shuttle services and Independence Day fireworks on the 4th of July also are covered by the SECA Fund.
