What is it that makes you want to get up in the morning? Interestingly, research shows that persons who can identify and then pursue the activity that brings them the most joy demonstrate improved health and an overall better psychological state of being.

So what is your thing? What makes your soul sing?

For some people this passion might be a career or a sport, but for many others it is one of the cultural arts, such as art, music, dance, or drama.  Knowing that one size does not fit all, Western DuPage Special Recreation Association offers a balanced selection of programs for our participants who happen to have some sort of disability.  At WDSRA we are proud of our cultural arts programming and we strive to cater to the “whole person” through a well-rounded set of program options that nourish the mind, body, and spirit.

WDSRA cultural arts programs include group and individual lessons for children, teens, and adults. For the younger set, Awesome Art helps bring imaginations alive through experimentation with visual art media. Adults can find the same creative outlet in Creative Corner class. For music lovers, we offer individual piano, guitar, and voice lessons, as well as Music With My Friends class. Our dance classes include Ballet/Jazz, Line Dancing, Tap, and Hip Hop. WDSRA Troop Drama produces two theatrical productions annually. And each year audiences give rave reviews to the Performing Arts Recital and the Musical Showcase. WDSRA also offers other creative options such as Ceramics, Jewelry Making, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Cooking 101, Woodworking, Video Ventures, and even Animal Interaction.

WDSRA – helping souls sing since 1976.
