Art Talk – Naperville Art League gets classy!

-

ART_LEAGUEWhen was the last time you thought about your New Year’s resolutions— you know, those alcohol-infused aspirations that surface as one year closes and the new one begins? What was your challenge for 2014? Was there a courageous endeavor you yearned to undertake? Running with the Bulls? Sky diving? Surfing? Watercolor painting? There is still time to confront that challenge, especially if your goal embodies an artistic nature.

Artists of all levels, from aspiring to accomplished, will find something at the Naperville Art League’s Fine Art Center and Gallery. Starting August 21, instructor Carmelo Schifano takes the fear out of watercolor painting in his Basics class. Students who have never held a paintbrush before are invited to discover the talent locked inside. Past demons are dispelled as participants experiment with various techniques under the guidance of one of NAL’s most beloved teachers. Each session concludes with a helpful critique that inspires and encourages the artists to tackle more complex pieces.

If watercolor isn’t your passion, there are plenty of other classes off ered at the Naperville Art League’s Fine Art Center and Gallery: Pastel Still Life, Cold Wax and Oil, Collage, Oil Paint in a Day, Finding Your Inner Artist, and more!

Open to the public, NAL classes cover a broad range of media and skill levels and are available morning, noon, evening, during the week, and on weekends. Flexible open studio sessions for adults and children are offered as are one-day workshops, week-long camps, and traditional 6-week sessions.

Find out what feeds your creative hunger by checking out NAL’s class schedules online at Napervilleartleague.com and also by searching the Naperville Park District’s Program Guide at napervilleparks.org.
