
On Wed., Aug. 6, the Farmers Market at St. John’s, located at 750 Aurora Ave., will be one of many farmers markets across the country celebrating National Farmers Market Week. Grilling demonstrations, recipes and tastings will feature products from some of the market vendors, such as Drover’s Trail Natural Farms, Papa’s Natural Honey, Six Generations Farmin’ Local, The Spice Merchant & Tea Shoppe, Twisted Olive and Windy Acres Farms. Shoppers can participate in a contest to find hidden grilling items placed throughout the market for a chance to win a grand prize of $50 in coupons or one of five $10 coupons to use at the farmers market. Mayor George Pradel was also invited to attend the celebration.
National Farmers Market Week runs August 3 through August 9. This is the 15th Annual National Farmers Market Week recognizing the important role that farmers markets play in the agricultural and food economy.
The Farmers Market at St. John’s runs every Wednesday from 3 to 7PM, through September 24. The market offers a wide variety of seasonally fresh vegetables and fruits, as well as meats, eggs, smoked fish, cheese, breads, baked goods, honey, fresh cut flowers, plants, herbs, teas, spices, oils and vinegars, sauces, table linens, soaps and other fine offerings from local vendors.
